Coach Spangler is entering his 25th year of coaching lacrosse where he has had the privilege of coaching youth, high school and collegiate lacrosse teams throughout Colorado. He has coached 13 collegiate All Americans, six high school All-Americans and 34 All-Conference high school players. He has coached at such top collegiate programs as the University of Denver and the University of Colorado. He currently coaches for the Denver Outlaws and at the high school level for Cherry Creek High School.
Coach Spangler has won a state championship as a player (East-Manual ‘90) and as a coach (Arapahoe ‘09) and was named RMILL Coach of the Year while at CU in 1999. He is currently an assistant coach at Cherry Creek High School where he coaches with current Outlaws player and Cherry Creek Head Coach Matt Bocklet. Coach Spangler has developed a number preseason and in-season conditioning programs that have helped his players play to the best of their abilities and has lead to 2 MLL championships in 2014 and 2016. He encourages both multiple sports conditioning and lacrosse specific training for all of his athletes at every level.
Coach Spangler is the owner/operator of VP Lacrosse Academy which is dedicated to helping lacrosse players and parents navigate the lacrosse world from youth development to preparing for collegiate lacrosse. He is a graduate of Syracuse University (‘95) with a B.S. in Psychology with a focus in Neuroscience. Coach Spangler is native to Colorado and with the help of his wife Jessica he raises his two children in Highlands Ranch Colorado.
